(315) 539-1550 From the Desk of the High School Principal... Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year. To the ninth grade students entering the Waterloo High School for the first time, this year is a new beginning. The Ninth Grade Academy is in its 4th year. We continue to make improvements in helping ninth graders transition from middle school to high school. With the high school and middle school administrators working closely as a 6th - 12th grade team, the transition for ninth graders continues to be more and more successful and all students at all grade levels benefit from this cohesive approach. The faculty/staff of both the middle and high schools have joined together to form committees to provide the details for a 3-5 year plan, which has four major categories; Rigor and Relevance, Effective Teaching Strategies, Non-Traditional Learner, and Character Education. The high school continues to enhance its school culture by using our advisement period as just one of the many vehicles. The high school continues to create a culture where staff and students alike give their best inside and outside the classroom. This is who we are, even when no one is watching. As a reminder to parents, you are the most important part of a student’s education. It's important that parents send a strong message to their child about the importance of education. It's important to make sure your child attends school daily and that they do their part as a student in and out of the classroom. It’s also important that they take advantage of all the resources available to them, which includes the academic period from 2:10-2:50PM. It's imperative for parents to encourage students to get involved. The more connected a student is to school; the more likely they will be successful. The doors of the high school are always open to parents as well. On behalf of the staff members listed below, along with all the faculty and staff at Waterloo High School, I encourage you to work together with us to make 2010-2011 a successful and memorable year for our students.
