Girls Basketball Celebration

-
The Waterloo varsity girls basketball team was honored in the Waterloo High School gymnasium on Friday afternoon.
Following a parade to honor the state Class B champions, the team gathered with family, friends and community members to continue their celebration of Saturday night's 58-48 victory over Putnam Valley at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.
Each team member was recognized individually and Superintendent of Schools Terry Bavis, Director of Health, Physical Educatoon and Athletics Christal Kent and head coach Michael Bree all addressed the team and crowd.
Natalie DiSanto, one of the Tigers' senior captains, read a letter to Bree that recapped the season and the program's journey since he returned as head coach six seasons ago.
The gathering concluded with each member of the team climbing a ladder to cut down a piece of the net as a souvenier of the championship season.
Waterloo (26-1) will play in the New York State Federation's Tournament of Champions at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Albany.
