October Informational Letter
On October 12, 2016 I received the test results from Pace Analytical Labs for the testing of potable water at the Skoi Vase and Lafayette schools. These tests were performed in the early hours of September 22,2016,beginning at 12am. I have attached the results of these tests, which will be posted on the Waterloo Central Schools website. All tests were performed as described in the guidelines set forth by the NY State Department of Health and the EPA's technical guideline, ''The 3Ts for Reducing Lead in Drinking Water in Schools." Any water
source that tested above 15 parts per billion (15ppb) were deemed a positive test for lead. The results of these tests have been delivered to the Seneca County Department of Health, along with the corrective action to be taken for any positive test. I will be working with the Department of Health to keep them apprised of all steps that will be taken to make the necessary changes to resolve the potable water issues where they exist. Any drinking fountain that failed the test was removed from service immediately. Once the corrections have been made,we will have Pace Analytical Labs test the outlets again to verify our action steps have rectified the problem.
December Informational Letter
On December 5, 2016 I received the test results from Pace Analytical Labs for the testing of potable water at the High School and Middle School. These tests were performed in the early hours of October 28, 2016,beginning at 12am. I have attached the results of these tests, which will be posted on the Waterloo Central Schools website. All tests were performed as described in the guidelines set forth by the NY State Department of Health and the EPA's technical guideline,"The 3Ts for Reducing Lead in Drinking Water in Schools." Any water source that tested above 15 parts per billion (15ppb) were deemed a positive test for lead. The results of these tests have been delivered to the Seneca County Department of Health, along with the corrective action to be taken for any positive test. I will be working with the Department of Health to keep them apprised of all steps that will be taken to make the necessary changes to resolve the potable water issues where they exist. All faucets that yielded positive test results for lead were from sinks from science labs, with one exception being a sink in the nurse's office. These faucets have all been labeled with a sign to not drink from them. Once the corrections have been made, we will have Pace Analytical Labs test the outlets again to verify our action steps have rectified the problem. It should also be noted that the drinking fountains all produced results that yielded miniscule to no recorded levels of lead, which is outstanding.
