School Counseling Services
Seven (7) full-time NYS certified and licensed counselors provide a variety of services to students and families in the district. These services include:
Classroom Presentations on topics including graduation requirements, college applications, financial aid, and career information.
Evening Programs that include financial aid seminars, college nights, and orientations to Middle School and High School.
Student Performance Monitoring - Counselors review report cards and interim reports and arrange teacher/parent/counselor conferences to assist with student difficulties. Standardized test results are monitored and interpreted, and counselors schedule appropriate remedial classes.
Record Keeping - Transcripts may be sent to prospective employers and colleges. An up-to-date class rank and records concerning academic performances are available for parental review.
Academic Advisement assists students in selecting programs of study to prepare them for educational and career goals. Students meet with counselors at least once a year to discuss performance, courses and future plans. An Individual Program Review and all subsequent schedule changes are sent home for parental review.
Individual and Group Counseling are available to all students for a variety of issues including peer relations,and academic problems affecting students. Counselors also act as referral sources for additional counseling services in the community.
