Scholarships are attached to this email and hard copies are available in the counseling office. Scholarships information will be placed on the district website and given to senior classroom teachers. Please email Mrs. Allen at terri.allen@waterloocsd.org for transcript request.

Waterloo Education Foundation, Inc. (deadline May 12)
- Any member of the Waterloo High School's graduating class who has been accepted or is awaiting acceptance at a one year, two year or four year accredited institution of higher learning may apply.
- Candidates should have a respect for lifelong learning and an understanding of the importance of community involvement.
- If you are an Eagle Scout or hold the “Gold Award” in Girl Scouts, a description of your project must be submitted with application
Earl T. (“Red”) & Alice Wadhams Scholarship (deadline May 12)
- Any member of the Waterloo High School's graduating class who has been accepted or is awaiting acceptance or is waiting acceptance at an accredited institution or trade school of higher learning may apply.
- Candidates should have a respect for lifelong learning and an understanding of the importance of community involvement
Edward M. Boudreau Scholarship (deadline May 12)
- Any member of the WaterlooHigh School's graduating class who has been accepted or is awaiting acceptance or is waiting acceptance at an accredited institution or trade school of higher learning may apply.
- Candidates should have a respect for lifelong learning and an understanding of the importance of community involvement.
- Must maintain a GPA 80 or higher
Charles Battaglia Memorial Scholarship (deadline May 12)
- Any member of the Waterloo High School's graduating class who has been accepted or is awaiting acceptance or is waiting acceptance at a two or four-year accredited NYS Institution of higher learning. Restricted based on the declared major/anticipated field of study of elementary education.
- Candidates should have a respect for lifelong learning and an understanding of the importance of community involvement.
- Must be a resident of Waterloo, NY
- Must maintain a GPA 2.25 or higher
Dennis Bertino Memorial Scholarship (due May 12)
- Summit with your application a short essay articulating your passion for engineering, architecture, building and hunting and/or fishing
- Transcript must be submitted with this application
- Any member of the Waterloo High School's graduating class who has been accepted or is awaiting acceptance or is waiting acceptance at an accredited institution or trade school of higher learning may apply.
- Candidates should have a respect for lifelong learning and an understanding of the importance of community involvement.
Michael S. Bertino Memorial Scholarship (deadline May 12)
- Any member of Waterloo High School’s graduating class who will be entering in any branch of the USA Armed Services
- Candidates should have a respect for lifelong learning and an understanding of the importance of community involvement.
- Submit with your application a short essay articulating your reasons for entering the armed services, your goals, and your love for America
Louise Rose Bertino Memorial Scholarship (deadline May 12)
- Any female member of the Waterloo High School’s graduating Class who has been accepted or is awaiting acceptance at a college majoring in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or Supply Chain) field may apply
- Candidates should have a respect for lifelong learning and an understanding of the importance of community involvement.
- Submit with your application a short essay articulating why you feel STEM is important for women
Richard Murney Memorial Scholarship (deadline May 12
- Any member of the Waterloo High School's graduating class who has been accepted or is awaiting acceptance or is waiting acceptance at a two or four-year accredited NYS Institution of higher learning. Restricted based on the declared major/anticipated field of study of accounting and/or computer science.
- Candidates should have a respect for lifelong learning and an understanding of the importance of community involvement. Participate in outdoor activities examples; fishing, hunting, golfing or lacrosse
OTTC Ontario and Trumansburg Telephone Companies (deadline April 24)
Griswold Telephone Scholarship Applicant must be pursuing a degree in Engineering, IT or Telecommunications. Applications are available in the counseling office and must be returned to the counseling office by April 24. Application in the Counseling Office
Waterloo Education Association ( May 2)
- Waterloo Education Scholarship (2) of $1200.00 each with a priority being given, but not necessarily, to students who intend to major in education
- Michael DeRaddo Memorial Scholarship of $500.00 to be given to a student majoring in the nursing, medical or engineering fields
- Nancy Hilimire Memorial Scholarship of $500.00 to be given to a student majoring in elementary education
- Michael Osowski Memorial Scholarship of $250.00 to be given to a student who will attend a four year college for music or the performing arts, demonstrates a financial need, and displays a zest for life and mankind
C. Scott Sampson Memorial Conservation Scholarship (deadline June 1)
Seneca County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs, Inc. will be awarding a scholarship to one Seneca County graduating senior who will be pursuing a degree in the environmental conservation related area either at a two year or four year college. Applications are available in the counseling office and attached.
Seneca County American Legion Scholarship (student must mail completed application by May 1)
Award of the scholarship will be given on the basis of student performance in academics, service to the community which reflects good citizenship and need. Although preference will be given to Veterans or children of Veterans, a parent’s status as a Veteran or membership in the American Legion is not a requirement. Applications are available in the counseling office and attached.
The Orville L. Cook Scholarship (deadline April 19)
The scholarships will be awarded based on the language of the Cook Scholarship trust agreement, which governs the intent of the funds to be disbursed. In summary, the selection of the recipients will be based on the following criteria/language of the trust:
- Students pursuing a higher education who are graduates of any high school located in Seneca County, NY, and who without such aid would not be able to pursue their education.
- Character of the individual
- Motivation of the student
- The scholastic record of the student

The Barbara and Leonard Hornung Scholarship (deadline April 26)
This scholarship, established in memory of Barbara and Leonard Hornung, recognizes their service to the Waterloo community. His five daughters and several grandchildren graduated from Waterloo High School. Passionate about giving back to the community, Leonard volunteered two/three times a week for over 25 years as an EMT and treasurer at North Seneca Ambulance while working full time as a CFO at Seneca Knitting Mill. Barbara spent countless hours within the Waterloo School District volunteering. She also spent time volunteering at St. Mary’s Church as a religious education instructor.
A $500 scholarship, paid to you by the Waterloo School District, will be awarded to one senior who meets the following criteria:
- A senior at Waterloo High School who has chosen to pursue a two or four-year degree in the healthcare field
- Two letters of recommendation, one from a current teacher
- Demonstrated community service, with a one-page essay describing how your community service impacted the community and helped your personal growth.

Seneca County Arts Council Scholarship Application (deadline May 16)
To be eligible for this $500 scholarship, applicants must be planning to attend a college, university or post-secondary professional school to study either the visual arts, performing arts or the written arts. Students must be a Seneca County resident. Student must mail completed application. Application in the counseling office and attached
Thompson Health Guild Scholarship (deadline April 7)
The Thompson Health Guild is offering up to four $2,000 scholarships to be awarded to students who have been enrolled the entire senior year in a high school located in the service area of the Thompson Health System, Inc.
This award will be made based on merit to high school seniors who will enroll in any university, college or school offering post-high school training in a human health-related field.

Zonta Club of Geneva 2023 Memorial Fund Scholarship (Deadline March 29, 2023)
- Any female senior enrolled in a full or part time degree-seeking program.
- Must demonstrate goals and ideals similar to those stated in Zonta’s objectives.
- Application must be returned to the School Counseling Office by March 29

The James H. Rice Memorial Scholarship (two scholarships awarded in the amount of $1,000)
The James H. Rice Memorial Scholarship offers financial assistance and recognition to high school seniors in the counties of Ontario, Seneca and Yates.
Requirements:
- 2023 graduate
- 87 numerical average
- Completed application
- 2 letters of reference
Applications are in the counseling office. Completed applications are due on or before March 31, 2023
HLAA Hearing Loss Association of America Scholarship Information
Deadline postmark by April 14, 2023. HLAA Rochester Chapter is offering a $1,000.scholarship, awarded to a Greater Rochester area High School Senior with a Hearing Loss pursuing a degree from a college, vocational training, or other postsecondary school. Syracuse Chapter of the CPCU Society (3 Scholarships)

Summit Federal Credit Union Scholarship
Applicants for all 2023 scholarships must either be a current member of The Summit or join The Summit as a primary account holder. The deadline for applications is February 28, 2023.
