Waterloo Art Department

  • Welcome to the WCSD Art Department

Our K-12 Waterloo Art Department mission is to provide visual art experiences that encourage students to problem solve, enhance self-awareness, and reveal their capabilities and strengths, so that they may have positive, creative ways to engage with the world around them. We strive to inspire excitement and curiosity. The study of the visual arts helps students to become more confident and proactive in their overall learning. By design, the program will continue to evolve, meeting the needs of today's learner.

K-2 - Skoi Yase Elementary: Jean Gaylord

3-5 -  LaFayette Intermediate: Ashley Caves

    6-8 Middle School: Joe Demetro

9-12 High School: Dana Brabant and Sarah Carey

A note from the HS staff: Students' preparedness for future endeavors is achievable due to the dedication of early exposure to the ARTS at Waterloo. As they enter high school, they have access to many elective courses that consistently meet the demands for many future choices. Students that choose our program develop competitive portfolios that demonstrate their craftsmanship skills, artistic techniques, strong knowledge of the arts, analytical thinking, and a sensitivity for life.
