The Waterloo Central School District Transportation Department took delivery of a new, wheelchair-accessible bus on Jan. 9.
Included on the new bus are two removable seats, which can be taken out and replaced at will. This means that the bus can accommodate children with mobility aides, but also has the capacity for typical routes, sports transportation and more, making it the most versatile bus in the fleet.
“The new bus will replace an older one in our current fleet,” said D’Allah “D” Laffoon, transportation supervisor for the Waterloo CSD. “It will help our department better meet the needs of students in our community.”
Currently, there are a few Waterloo students with mobility aides who are transported with assistance from another school district. The new bus will allow Waterloo CSD to take over transportation for these students.
