Hayden Linehan, a 2024 graduate of Waterloo High School, received the Section V Athletics Scholarship for baseball, Section V announced on Monday.

As part of its mission to promote excellence in interscholastic athletics while supporting an education based learning environment, Section V offers a $500 scholarship for each sport each season to be used toward future academic endeavors. Winners are selected based on a letter of recommendation from their coach, their high school transcript and activities sheet, as well as their responses to application questions.

Hayden played varsity baseball for four seasons at Waterloo and was also a member of the varsity soccer team. Hayden lists that one of his favorite memories from participating in interscholastic athletics is “beating Geneva in sectionals last year and going out to eat afterwards with his soccer teammates.”

Hayden states the one word that best describes him is “leader.” Hayden plans to continue his education by studying engineering at RIT.
