Every one of Waterloo High School’s varsity spring sports teams earned New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Scholar Athlete Team Awards for the spring 2025-26 season. This distinction is given to teams whose top 75% of roster members have a GPA of 90% or higher.

“To have every team in one sports season at one district earn this award is incredible,” says Mr. Christian Maher, director of health, physical education & athletics at Waterloo Central School. “This demonstrates how our Waterloo Tigers are not just champions on the field of play, but in the classroom as well.” 

NYSPHSAA also recognizes individual scholar athletes on each sports team for maintaining a GPA of 90% or higher throughout the sports season.

Congratulations to the following teams:

• Boys Outdoor Track/Field - 90.39% - Two Individual Scholar Athletes
• Girls Outdoor Track/Field - 95.27% - Seven Individual Scholar Athletes
• Baseball - 91.11% - Six Individual Scholar Athletes
• Boys Lacrosse - 90.24% - Seven Individual Scholar Athletes
• Softball - 95.04% - Nine Individual Scholar Athletes

Additionally, the combined Mynderse/Romulus/Waterloo Girls Varsity Lacrosse team was named a NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Team (90% GPA). Seven Waterloo CSD student-athletes on that team were named individual scholar athletes.
