Middle School, LaFayette Host Spelling Bees

The Waterloo Central School District crowned two Spelling Bee champions on March 8.

Sixth-grader Ashton Westmoreland won the Middle School Spelling Bee, correctly spelling "invigorating" in the tenth round. Eighth-grader Logan Pine was runner-up.

Fourth-grader Kinsley Bree captured the LaFayette Intermediate School Spelling Bee, correctly spelling "professional" in the 12th round. Fifth-grader Marianna Gray was runner-up.

Ashton, Logan, Kinsley and Marianna have all been invited to attend the Regional Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 19 at the Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES Conference Center in Newark.

Both the local and regional events are part of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
