Waterloo High School Names Valedictorian, Salutatorian

The Waterloo Central School District is proud to announce Waterloo High School’s valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2022.

The valedictorian is Abigail Burm, the daughter of LeVern and Victoria Burm. The salutatorian is Stephanie Greunke, the daughter of Dawn Manley and Lloyd Thomas Greunke III.

Abigail has been involved with Student Council for all four years of high school and served as treasurer during her junior and senior years. She has also been a member of Varsity Club, Future Teacher’s Club, Health and Wellness Club and is the co-founder of Bailey’s Boutique, a thrift store at Waterloo High School.

Abigail has been active in athletics as a member of the girls varsity soccer and lacrosse teams. She has also volunteered at Seneca Park Zoo, Vacation Bible School and is the founder of the group RISE (Resilience and Inclusion for Students Everywhere).

Abigail was inducted into National Honor Society as a junior and served as NHS President her senior year. She has received academic awards in English, Social Studies, Math and Science and received the Gold Key Award and the Hand of Christ Award through her church.

Abigail also served as the student liaison to the Board of Education her senior year. She has received the following scholarships: Equitable Excellence, Elks Lodge Most Valuable Student and National Merit Special Scholarship through the Ferro Corporation.

She plans to attend Cornell University on a pre-vet track.

Stephanie took Advanced Placement courses in Language and Composition, U.S. History and Literature and Composition as well as several courses through dual enrollment with Finger Lakes Community College.

A member of the High Honor Roll and National Honor Society, she has also volunteered for the Seneca County Community Christmas Project, written Santa letters to children and worked to collect clothing donations for the House of Concern.

Stephanie plans to attend Rochester Institute of Technology to study psychology.

Commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2022 are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 25 at Waterloo High School.
