Richard Howington Recognized As Unsung Hero

Each month the Waterloo Central School District recognizes an Unsung Hero at its Board of Education meeting. An Unsung Hero is a Waterloo Central School District staff member who “goes above and beyond when serving students, faculty and staff on our campus, demonstrates a positive attitude toward others, and shows outstanding work performance.”

The July recipient is Waterloo High School Head Custodian Richard Howington, who was nominated by Waterloo High School Principal Mary Thomas-Madonna.

“Richard is always kind, dependable and extra helpful, but today (June 15) he went above and beyond the call of duty to help a teacher recover some extremely important papers that had accidently been put in the dumpster,” Thomas-Madonna wrote on the nomination form. “There are so many days/times that he and his staff support behind the scenes. We are very grateful for Richard and his above and beyond service to our staff, students and families.”
