Terri Allen Honored As Unsung Hero For August

Each month the Waterloo Central School District recognizes an Unsung Hero at its Board of Education meeting. An Unsung Hero is a Waterloo Central School District staff member who “goes above and beyond when serving students, faculty and staff on our campus, demonstrates a positive attitude toward others, and shows outstanding work performance.”
The August recipient is Waterloo High School Guidance Office Secretary Terri Allen, who was nominated by Board of Education President Ellen Hughes and Vice President Coreen Lowry.
Their nomination form read: “In addition to her regular full-time work, Terri is also the high school representative for Trevor’s Gift Backpack Program. In that capacity she does a wonderful job making sure the students who are nutritionally insecure receive the supplemental food for the weekend that Trevor’s Gift provides. She works not only with the students but also with the families to be sure they know about the program and how they can receive the food. Terri goes beyond the program expectations to provide for the students in the high school. She does not stop with the school day or year. Even during vacation, she answers our emails and has continued to stay in contact over the summer to be sure food is available as needed … The students and families at the high school benefit from her work ethic. Her dedication, caring and perseverance have not gone unnoticed.”
