BOARD OF EDUCATION APPROVES NEW CONTRACT FOR WATERLOO EDUCATION ASSOCIATION

The Waterloo Central School District Board of Education unanimously approved a new four-year contract for the Waterloo Education Association on Thursday, Sept. 8.

The contract, which goes into effect immediately, includes 4% salary increases and a switch to a high deductible base health plan. The WEA, which has 215 members, ratified the contract in a vote on Sept. 6.

“The District appreciates everything that WEA members do every day,” Superintendent of Schools Terri Bavis said. “We have a great working relationship with the WEA and look forward to continuing to partner with them as we put our students first every day.”

“We are excited to have been able to put together a comprehensive agreement that helps address the compensation of our association members and respects the impact on the taxpayers of Waterloo,” WEA Co-Presidents Jacque Hauf and Chelsea Jay said. “We are grateful for the patience and support of our membership, as well as the collaboration with the administration and the school board.”
