George Braun Recognized As Unsung Hero

Each month the Waterloo Central School District recognizes an Unsung Hero at its Board of Education meeting. An Unsung Hero is a Waterloo Central School District staff member who “goes above and beyond when serving students, faculty and staff on our campus, demonstrates a positive attitude toward others, and shows outstanding work performance.”

George Braun, Senior Custodian at Skoi-Yase Primary School, was recognized at the Aug. 29 meeting. Braun was nominated by Superintendent of Schools Terri Bavis for his extra efforts in moving materials from one classroom to another so a new teacher could begin work on setting up her classroom.

Braun’s nomination read, in part: “George is approachable, friendly, efficient and extremely hard working. … In typical George fashion, no complaint, not even a hesitation, he did what needed to be done. George is truly an unsung hero, a man of great character, every day, in ways that no one will ever see because that is the way he works and cares for others.”
