Music Teachers Honored As Unsung Heroes
Waterloo Central School District music teachers Vivian Becker, Ryan McKenna and Joel Touranjoe were honored as Unsung Heroes at the Waterloo Central School District’s Jan. 21 Board of Education meeting.
An Unsung Hero is a Waterloo Central School District staff member who “goes above and beyond when serving students, faculty and staff on our campus, demonstrates a positive attitude toward others, and shows outstanding work performance.”
The trio was nominated by Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics Christal Kent for their support of student-athletes and collaborative spirit.
Mrs. Kent’s nomination read:
“Vivian, Ryan and Joel are exceptional advocates for student-athletes to be well-rounded! They work collaboratively with our athletic department so that we can have students who participate in both band and sports. Also, they never say no to a Celebration Parade - even after the Veteran’s Day concert and a busy week! In addition, it was awesome having the Pep Band play at our football games this fall as well as Varsity Ensemble at Homecoming. And, (we) now have a national anthem to play at sporting events that is our own! So cool. … All in all, a pleasure to work with and I appreciate all of them.”
Congratulations to Miss Becker, Mr. McKenna and Mr. Touranjoe!
